What Are Perfume Notes?
Perfume notes are the individual scents that compose a fragrance, categorized into three groups: head, heart, and base notes. These layers are carefully blended to create the depth, elegance, and character of a fine fragrance. Each note plays a distinct role in the perfume pyramid, determined by how quickly it evaporates and when it’s perceived during wear.
Head Notes
At the top of the pyramid, head notes are the first impression of a perfume. Often fresh, bright, and fleeting, these notes introduce the scent with uplifting ingredients like bergamot, lime, peppermint, or basil. They last for approximately 5 to 15 minutes before gracefully fading into the heart.

Heart Notes
The heart of the fragrance forms its core identity. This middle layer unveils itself as the head notes begin to dissipate. Here, you’ll find florals such as jasmine, rose, and lavender, often paired with spices and fruits like cinnamon or blackcurrant.
🕒 Lasts: 20–60 minutes
Base Notes
Anchoring the pyramid are the base notes—the richest and most enduring part of a fragrance. These include deep, warm accords like musk, amber, oud, or sandalwood. They emerge slowly and last the longest, adding sensuality and depth.
